“...but I want to go to Toy World!”
|
Giant Toy World (commonly referred to as Toy World), is a large, fictional toy store located in the suburbs of Winslow Corners. It is most recognisable for having a giant, inflatable Chip Hazard on its roof, promoting the upcoming release of Heartland Play Systems' Small Soldiers toyline.
Small Soldiers (film)[]
Toy World was preparing to sell a large shipment of Commando Elite and Gorgonite figures before their stock was recalled by Heartland Play Systems, following a worrying customer complaint from Alan Abernathy. Joe Kawalski, a Heartland delivery truck driver, was in the process of returning said recalled shipment when Chip Hazard took him hostage at knifepoint, following his first defeat in the pursuit of Alan and Christy. Liberating and activating the recalled Commandos off-screen, Chip gagged and bound Joe to the truck's steering wheel, forcing him to deliver them all back to the Abernathy House.
Stock and Reputation[]
Toy World exists as the corporate megastore juxtaposition to Stuart Abernathy's The Inner Child, stocking all of the modern, electronic 'war toys' he will not, like the Small Soldiers. Given Stuart's complaints about losing customers, and Toy World's close proximity, it is safe to conclude that this is one of the major competitors of his store, if not the main one. Given the other items that the Commando re-enforcements arrive with, it appears that Toy World also sells Radio Flyer Red Wagons, remote control cars, and Gwendy dolls.
The Top Secret Dossier shows an invoice receipt for a purchase made on July 26, 1998 by Toy World, Inc. for a shipment of Small Soldier toys to its branch in Winslow Corners:

Employees[]

Unnamed Toy World supervisor
While next to nothing is known about Toy World's practices or business, two employees are seen handing off the recalled Small Soldiers to Joe, working late into the night. Both characters are seen wearing a blue-and-red pinstripe vest with the Giant Toy World logo embroidered on the back. The only employee with a speaking role is wearing an illegible name badge, credited as Toy World Supervisor, played by Julius Tennon.
Trivia[]
- It is interesting to note the lesser quantities of Gorgonites ordered by the store, likely due to most toylines' 'villain' characters never selling as well as the 'heroes'.
- After Gil Mars arrives to pay off the families at the end of the movie, Irwin Wayfair was asked how much the Commando Elite was sold for. Irwin replies that they were sold for $79.95, making a whole set of Commando Elite and Gorgonites cost $959.40 before tax!
