The Stan Winston Studio was the special effects team behind the 1998 Small Soldiers film. Not much information exists online about the studio itself, and the URL "www.stanwinstonstudio.com" has since been bought by an unrelated group.
The Stan Winston Studio was lead and named after the legendary special effects artist, Stan Winston. The studio was formed in 1972, with their first project being the TV film Gargoyls, and would later work on such blockbuster films as The Thing, Jurassic Park, and Titanic. Stan Winston died in 2008 while working on Terminator Salvation and Avatar, and his studio dissolved. Following his death, the Stan Winston School of Character Arts was founded in his memory; an online learning resource with paid courses for aspiring special effects artists.
While working on Small Soldiers, Hasbro provided insight into the creation of real-life toys, particularly in regards to the Gwendy dolls.[1]
